Shankara Mutts

Founded by Adi Shankaracharya, these mutts are dedicated to the Advaita Vedanta tradition. There are four main Shankara Mutts:

  • Sringeri Sharada Peetham (Karnataka)
  • Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham (Tamil Nadu)
  • Dwarka Sharada Peetham (Gujarat)
  • Jyotir Math (Uttarakhand)
Vaishnava Mutts

These mutts follow the Vaishnava tradition, which worships Lord Vishnu.

  • Sri Ramanuja Mutts (Tamil Nadu)
  • Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's Mutts (West Bengal)
  • ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) Temples (worldwide, with many in India)
Shaiva Mutts

These mutts follow the Shaiva tradition, which worships Lord Shiva.

  • Kailash Ashram (Uttarakhand)
  • Sri Aurobindo Ashram (Pondicherry)
  • Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam (Tamil Nadu)

Many mutts and saints that have shaped India's spiritual heritage. Each of these institutions and individuals has contributed significantly to the country's rich cultural and philosophical landscape.
