Shankara Mutts
Founded by Adi Shankaracharya, these mutts are dedicated to the Advaita Vedanta tradition. There are four main Shankara Mutts:
- Sringeri Sharada Peetham (Karnataka)
- Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham (Tamil Nadu)
- Dwarka Sharada Peetham (Gujarat)
- Jyotir Math (Uttarakhand)
Vaishnava Mutts
These mutts follow the Vaishnava tradition, which worships Lord Vishnu.

- Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's Mutts (West Bengal)
- ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) Temples (worldwide, with many in India)
Shaiva Mutts
These mutts follow the Shaiva tradition, which worships Lord Shiva.
