The lord is named Deiva Nayaka Easwarar as he assumed commandership for the Deva forces against the Thiripura Asuras (demons). As per the purana, Lord Ganesha broke the axis of Lord's chariot as the devas (who followed the Lord) passed without worshipping Lord Ganesha. But Lord Vishnu prevented the chariot from falling down. The Kondrai garland in Shiva's neck fell down and became a swayambulinga. Also as the celestial deva kannikas (Arambas) worshipped this lord to maintain their beauty, the Lord gets the name Arambeswarar. The Lord encountered Thirugnana Sambandhar as a old person and asked him to praise the Lord there.
Thirugnana Sambandhar. This is the 246th Devara Sthalam.
The Lord here is Swayambu murthi. The Lord is "Theenda Thirumeni (meaniing "the Lord is not touched by anyone"). The lord appears as Kondrai flower's petal. Kopuja (cows) is done on daily basis. Goddess appears on Sri Chakra facing south. The lord grants all the 16 forms of wealth to his devotees. The lord Moon got rid of his curse from Daksha after a bath in the Mallika Pushkarini Theertha. This place is famous for the Lord's glory, Sacredness of the land and the holy spring. There is a veda patashala too.
Guru Parihara Sthalam. People affected with adverse aspects of Jupiter planet worship Yoga Dakshinamurhty here. All ill effects on the devotee would vanish if he/she prays to this Lord.
People offer abishekas and archanas to the Yoga Dakshinamurthy. Rice is offered as nivedhana to the Lord. Devotees believe that a dip in Mallikka theertham brings complete relief from the birth-death cycle.
