This temple is one of the best parihara sthalams in Tamil Nadu. All doshas from birth to dearth are remedied here. People pray here for child boon and other wishes. Parihara sthalam for Mandhi (son of Lord Saneeswara - Saturn) and Kuligan Santhi Dosha. People pray to Jurahareswarar is worshipped here to get relief from fever, skin diseases and mental illness. It is believed that performing "Narayana Bali" puja for the departed souls (who die in an accident or untimely) makes the soul to be at peace.
Devotees who seek child boon and other wishes take a bath in the river, hold the amirtha lingam in hand and walk around the Avudaiyar (base) thrice for wish fulfilment. Also, devotees dip in the sthala theertha and worship Lords Vinayaka and Sangameswarar and eats the fruits of the Ilandai tree here, is given the child boon. Devotees perform abhisekam and offer pepper rasam mixed in rice and red spinach mixture as nivedhana to Jurahareswarar to get cured. The Vilva leaves offered to this Lingam and added to one's food gives relief to one's gastric problems. People with Naga (serpant) dosha consecrate a stone made serpent near Lord Vinayaka on the banks of the river is believed to get cured from the dosha. Men with Chevvai dosha tie the sacred thread to a plantain tree and throw it in the rive. Similarly Women with Chevvai dosha (Lord Mars) do puja to Banyan leaves and throw them in the river. Devotees offer their thanksgiving by performing abishekam and offer new clothes to the Lord and the Mother once their wishes are fulfilled.
